A 12-year-old girl is being transported to McMaster University Medicial Centre in stable condition after being pulled from the pool at Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre shortly before 3:40pm Friday afternoon.
Hamilton Paramedic Commander Ian Wright says the girl is breathing on her own, and in stable condition, and was in route to MUMC. (3:55pm update)
Emergency Services responded to the call at 3:40pm and arrived on scene within moments – the nearest Fire Station, Station 6, being one block away.
Claudio Mostacci of the Fire Department says Pump 6 was on scene at 3:43pm. (4:05pm update)
The City of Hamilton issued the following statement: (4:30pm update)
“There was an incident this afternoon at the pool at Norman Pinky Lewis Recreation Centre,” wrote Chris Herstek, Director in the Recreation Division. “Staff on scene acted quickly, emergency medical services were called, and CPR was performed on a 12-year-old child in the pool. We are told the child is stable and being attended to at a local hospital.”
