*I sent the following correspondence to City Council’s Selection Committee tonight noting, for the record, my concerns about an oversight that may prevent citizens from engagement on volunteer boards and committees. *

The City of Hamilton’s official website page for citizen appointment vacancies states “There are currently no citizen opportunities available on Volunteer Committees.” – http://www.hamilton.ca/
As such, citizens interested in appointment to volunteer committees could be unaware of opportunities being considered by Selection Committee.
I encourage the committee to consider updating the City of Hamilton website and to provide for a period of time for interested citizens to apply for Boards and Committees that appointment is not time-sensitive.
I believe the committee should provide for future vacancies to be noted on the City’s official website as the site indicates current citizen appointments opportunities are posted to it.
