I’m happy to announce that I’ll conduct a digital communications workshop for the public sector on May 29th in Ottawa as part of the Digital Communications for the Public Sector conference.
The workshop will help prepare public sector communicators for the open data era. Attendees will learn about:
- Striking the right balance between informing people and feeding the beast
- Managing audience expectations
- How to get data out into the world: soft release versus hard release strategies
- What do users want?
- What formats are required?
- Defining your target audience
- Where to draw the line
- Considerations of sophisticated versus non-sophisticated users
- Raw data, data visualizations, and how much is required
I’m looking forward to this event and the data that will be released after communications directors have the opportunity to learn the benefits of opening their department or agency’s data.
