Disclaimer: I am a huge fan of John McCain and have been for a long time. I have a McCain 2000 lawnsign which I consider to be the centrepiece of my political memorabilia collection. I was not going to blog on the presidential race because of this bias. I’m a political science student, I can’t resist.
They’re not the “Swift Boat Vets for Truth” but they may have the same level of influence in defining this year’s president campaign as the “Swift Boats Vets” did in the 2004 campaign. A group calling itself “Vets for Freedom” will be spending $1.5-million to run ads touting a need to end the Iraq war in victory, according to a report put out on the AP wire yesterday.
It’ll be interesting to see what effect this group has on the political campaigns. I’m even more interested to know where their money for these ads is coming from and who’s creating their ads. The group already has plenty of suspected connections to the Republician Party. It’s interesting to watch all the front groups the parties sent up during these races.
