First Debate of Hamilton Mayoral Race [Live 7pm]

Should the City design itself to have higher density in the Core to increase taxation per acre and decrease taxes per capita?

It may seem like a rhetorical question, but it is one that Hamilton is debating as the City’s financial reserves are draining, and cities across North America struggle with massive infrastructure deficits following decades of urban sprawl.

The Hamilton/Burlington Society of Architects is hosting renowned Architect and Urban Planner Joe Minicozzi of Urban3.

Minicozzi is know for his focus on maximizing land use and value – something Hamilton must do if we’re to compete as a world-class City and not become solely a bedroom community to Toronto.

Following Minicozzi’s keynote, the HBSA is inviting ALL Hamilton Mayoral candidates to the stage for a discussion on the topic of “Tactical Taxation: Designing our City for Lower Taxes”.

Live video starts at 7 p.m. (Note: Broadcast will be 360p as I’m using mobile data)
