Hamilton Farmers' Market SubCmte for June 2014

It could be the last meeting of the Hamilton Farmers’ Market Sub-Cmte as they pass a recommended bylaw to make the Downtown Hamilton market into a separate municipal not-for-profit corporation.

The new market will be overseen by a Board of Directors consisting of 11 members:

  • Four stallholders (two of whom must be farmers/producers);
  • Two City Councillors; and
  • Five members of the general public.
Extend Free Parking Pilot

Staff recommending extending the Market’s free hour parking validation program until the end of 2014.

Staff say the validations are part of the the upswing underway at the Market, saying more time is needed to gather more data about the impact of the pilot.

The cost of extending to the end of the year is estimated at $40,000.
