Hamilton Police cruiser struck on Red Hill, Officer is okay

A Hamilton Police Officer is being transported to hospital for a precautionary assessment after his cruiser was struck on the Red Hill Valley Parkway as he was setting up traffic points following an earlier collision on the Parkway, says East End Staff Sergeant Phil Fleming.

Just after 8:30 a.m., Hamilton Police responded to two collisions on the Red Hill between Queenston and Greenhill.

The officer was setting up a traffic point with his cruiser to close a lane when the cruiser was struck.

S/Sgt Fleming says the officer was responsive and being taken to hospital as a precaution.

There are no major injuries in any of the collisions and as of 9:10 a.m., there was no need seen for a major investigation of any of the collisions to occur.

At 9:10 a.m., S/Sgt Fleming stated it will be at least one hour before any lanes are reopen and it could be longer.
