Hamilton Police issued the following update to media regarding the stabbing death on Tisdale St S last night. The release was issued at 0743EST on Friday.
It is very much noteworthy that Hamilton Police are, at this time, *not calling the death a homicide.*That Hamilton Police did apprehend a suspect, interviewed them, and released the person. Police state they are not looking for any further suspects.
Reading between the lines, this appears to be a very complex and tragic case.
The victim has not been identified yet.

Homicide Unit investigates Tisdale Stabbing
For Immediate release: February 15th, 2013
Hamilton, ON
On Thursday, February 14th, 2013 at approximately 7:54 p.m., police were called to the area of 6 Tisdale Street South, in the City of Hamilton, regarding a disturbance involving a possible stabbing. Hamilton Police and Emergency Medical Services personnel attended and located a male in an apartment, suffering from an apparent puncture wound. He was transported to hospital where efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead. A Post Mortem Examination to determine a specific cause of death has been scheduled for this morning. At this time, the victim has not been positively identified.
A suspect was immediately apprehended by responding officers and has been interviewed and released. Police are not looking for any further suspects. The investigation regarding the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death continues.
