The temperature in Winnipeg is always below -25 which means that salt will not melt Ice.
Of course this means that there is ice everywhere. I have only fallen twice this winter, both times I was wearing my Gore-Tex boots but I have had so many close calls. People fall here all the time, it is just part of being in Winnipeg, they get up and keep going. They do not call a ambulance chaser, no they accept that winter is rough and sometimes ice forms. There is a lesson here.
