Impressions of Conestoga College

Dion’s announcement resulted in me finally visiting Kitchener/Waterloo’s Conestoga College today. After taking the bus from Hamilton to Cambridge, I hoped onto a city bus for the final leg of my trip. I’ve never been on a city bus while travelling on through a series of corn fields, which was an experience for a city boy like me.Now, don’t get the wrong impression, Conestoga is not in the middle of nowhere, I just took a detour getting there from the south side.Arriving on the campus, I was surprised by the layout. Ontario’s colleges were founded by the Bill Davis government back in 1967 and, previous to this trip,  all the campuses I’ve visited follow the same basic layout; a series of connected concrete bunkers buildings in the centre of a huge parking lot.Conestoga doesn’t fit this cookie cutter image. They have a beautiful forest in the centre of the campus and a pond beside the building the Dion event was held.I’ll have to make a return visit at some point in the future.
