The developer/owner of James Street Baptist Church, who applied for a demolition permit for the heritage building, wrote in August of plans to construct a “22-30-storey mixed-use building, including retail, commercial space, a boutique hotel and residences.”
During last Wednesday’s demolition permit hearing, the developers delegation stated they needed to conduct market studies to determine the appropriate development and height before presenting a development plan.
The developers August statement indicates what they hope to achieve.
At present, the demolition permit request is tabled until October 9 when it will be heard again by the Heritage Permit Review Sub-Committee at a special noon meeting.
