Apparently, if King Danny is telling the truth, it wasn’t that his government requested to interview candidates for president of Memorial University – no, his government was asked to do so by Memorial. King Danny was too busy to conduct the interviews himself, so he left the task to his education minister.
I have yet to come to a conclusion of my opinion of this affair, and want to write a good blog post explaining my opinion on the topic of government approval for executive heads.
I can state this much, if Memorial asked the government for help in selecting a university president, they will be unable to find any world-class presidential candidates willing to take the job now.
