City of Hamilton staff state one of the partners of the Lister Arts gallery choose to end their lease at the end of the first year, as was an option of the lease.

Rom D’Angelo, Director Facilities & Capital Programs, for the City states “Lister Arts exercised their option not to renew, city staff viewed this as an opportunity to utilize the space to create a one-stop Cultural hub.”

“The first floor of the Lister Building is evolving into a hub for Tourism, Music, Film, Arts and Events such as the 2015 JUNO Awards and Pan Am Games.”

The primary lessee of the space choose to not renew.

The City was charging full market rent of $12,960 per year. The same rate per square foot as the Steak House.

An earlier version of this story contained incorrect information regarding the ending of the lease. I regret and apologize for the error.
