I attended the civic Remembrance Day ceremony this morning in Hamilton, Ontario.
Hamilton is the host city for the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and our veterans are honoured each year with a fly-by of World War II-era aircraft led by the Mynarski Memorial Lancaster Bomber. The CWHM’s Lancaster is one of only two airworthy Lancasters in the world.
It is a touching ceremony and one I used to attend solemnly, but without a personal feeling of loss.
The last few years, I’ve felt that loss as many of my generation have died serving Canada in Afghanistan. I knew one of those who died serving in this mission. My thoughts and prayers turn to those left behind today.
