This morning, hundreds* of York University students are expected to converge on their suburban campus to protest a two-week-old strike by teaching assistants, contract faculty, and graduate assistants.
The students are demanding that the Ontario government intervene with back-to-work legislation so they do not suffer from, among other consequences of a long strike, lost summer job opportunities and missed professional certification exams.
I’m presently on the last GO Train out of Hamilton this morning and will arrive at York University in time to cover the scheduled 10 a.m. rally.
Watch for updates during the day.
Updates: The crowd that attended the rally numbered approximately 200 people, according to a professional estimate.
